My name is Hashim Oomerjee and what makes me different as a teacher is that I have a wealth of experience. This includes working as a pharmacist for 20 years, which I bring to the classroom in order to engage my students. As a pharmacist, I had many roles such as running smoking cessation classes and weight management programs, which are all relevant when teaching these topics at GCSE.

I am a true believer of pushing for pupil outcome after each lesson as well as over time. I believe this can be achieved through high expectations, strong teaching and planning. I have been praised for achieving outcomes by knowing my students well and giving them time to take on board, reflect and rehearse their knowledge and understanding.

As the Head of Key Stage 5, my responsibility was to make sure that all three sciences are taught well. My greatest achievement was that in 2017, the school had its best ever A-level result. I have experience in teaching both the UK curriculum and more recently the IB curriculum in Dubai.

I have chosen to be part of ‘My Education Online’ as I feel that it provides a good platform for online schooling especially in this current climate. The focus is really on achieving student outcomes rather than being financially motivated which appeals to me.
